Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most popular trekking trails in Nepal. Embark on a magical two week Annapurna Circuit trek which takes us around the entire Annapurna massif reaching the Zenith at Thorong La Pass (5,416m/17,769ft). Just imagine the thrills of walking through world’s deepest Kali Gandaki Gorge, with Annapurna I rising to 8091m to the east and Dhaulagiri hovering at 8167m to the west! Cross the highest pass, Thorong La on the way from Manang to Muktinath and discover more than ten different culturally rich ethnic groups that reside in different climate zones of Annapurna Circuit. Annapurna Circuit Trek, one of the most popular classic treks in the world takes us within the world’s tenth highest mountain, the Annapurna. From a mere height of 800 meters to the high altitude of 5,416 meters, we will pass through a diverse geographical and cultural variation with an amazing range of flora and fauna in between.

Experience Required

This trek is suitable for fit walkers or those with previous trekking experience. If you are a regular weekend hill walker, this would be a good next trek for you.


Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu, Elevation: 4,620 feet / 1400meters

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu airport, we will pick you up from the airport and take you to hotel. In the afternoon, we may take a rest or visit near places.

Day 2: sightseeing around Kathmandu , Elevation: 4,620 feet / 1400 meters

While we wrap up last minute paperwork with the Nepali government, we arrange for you to enjoy a city tour visiting the palaces, Hindu temples and shrines, Buddhist stupas. A favorite destination is the Monkey Temple, a Buddhist temple situated on a small hill that offers panoramic views of the city. Or you can join the thousands of Hindus who venture to the Pashupatinath temple, one of the most famous Hindu temples in Nepal and the most famous Shiva temple in Asia.

Day 03 – Drive to Besisahar (830m/2,740ft) duration of drive – 7 hrs

Early in the morning we drive (185 kms)  to Besisahar  which will take  7-hour from Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Besisahar you will witness the stunning snow-capped mountain panorama. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 04 – Trek to Bahundanda (1,310m/4,320ft) – walking duration 5 hrs

We climb to Khudi at 790m, then reach the first Gurung village. As we continue from Khudi, the trail offers fine views of Himalchuli and Peak 29 (Ngadi Chuli). Continue climbs to Bhulbhule at 825m, then goes to Ngadi before reaching Lampata at 1,135m and nearby Bahundanda where you will see the real Nepali culture. Overnight at lodge.

 Day 05 : Trek to Chamje (1,400m/4,620ft) , walking duration 5 hrs

Our days starts with descending down to Syange at 1,070m. After crossing the Marsyangdi River on a suspension bridge, we follow the river to the stone village of Jagat before climbing through the forest to Chyamje at 1,400m . Overnight at lodge.

Day 06: Chamje to Dharapani [1,960m/6,430ft]: walking duration 5 – 6 hrs

Today we enter the Manang region passing through bamboo forest and rhododendrons to place called Tal. Tal lies on a flat plain next to the sandy beach and river at the base of a large waterfall. We continue to walk to Dharapani and overnight at lodge.

Day 07:  Dharapani to Chame [2,710m/8,891ft], walking duration 5 – 6 hrs

Today we climb few steep forested ridges along with several landslides on the route. We will encounter some of the most sensational views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV. Small hot springs add relief on our long day hard trek. Overnight at Chame.

Day 08:  Chame to Pisang [3,300m/10824ft]: walking duration 5 – 6 hrs

A steep and narrow path through a dense forest will bring us to the dramatic curved rock face, rising 1500m from the river. You will see the changes on vegetation as we higher. No more dense forest and green vegetation. We cross and re-cross the river again and again on suspension bridges. As the trail opens up we get surrounded by majestic Himalayan Peaks. We find ourselves in U-shaped valley of Manang hanging between two giant snow peaks. Upon walking through these wonderful sites we reach at Pisang. Overnight at Lower Pisang.

Day 09: Pisang to Manang(3,540m/11,682ft) :  walking duration 6 – 7 hrs

Today we go to the route through Upper Pisang via Geru with stunning sceneries. We feel like we can touch the majestic peaks. The panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks including Annapurna, Pisang peak, and several others will definitely allure us. We experience a contrast with the landscape and vegetation. Climate will be cold and dry in harsh environment. We will visit the Barge monastery, the largest in Manang will be memorable. Overnight at Manang.

Day 10: Manang: Rest day

Today is basicly a rest day but tt is not recommended to stay idle but a short walk to higher altitude to get acclimatized.  Bhojo Gompa or Gangapurna Lake is worth visiting sites from acclimatization point of view. Further, we pay an easy excursion to a little distance away to a village called Vraga and visit the monastery there. Overnight at Manang.

Day 11: Manang to Yak Kharka [4,110m/13,484ft]: walking duration 3 – 4 hours

We cross a stream and climbs to a village of Tenki above Manang, and then continues climb out of the Marshyangdi Valley turning northwest up the valley of Jarsang Khola. The trail follows this valley northward, passing a few pastures, a scrub of juniper trees, as it steadily gains altitude. The trail further passes near the small village of Ghunsa, a cluster of flat mud roofs just below the trailhead. Now the trail goes through meadows where horses and yaks graze. After crossing a small river on a wooden bridge, the trail continue to pleasant meadow and then reaches another small village of Yak Kharka.

Day 12:  Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi [4,600m/15,092ft]: walking duration 3 – 4 hrs

We trek to Throng Phedi today. We get ready for tomorrow’s big day climb. Overnight at Thorong Phedi.

Day 13:  Thorong Phedi to Thorong La (5416m/17764ft) to Muktinath [3,800/12,467ft]: walking duration 7 – 8 hrs

Today we start our day very early as we reach the climax of our Annapurna circle trek. A big day long trek will be a lifetime unforgettable experience crossing the famous high pass, Thorong La (5416m/17764ft). a very tough day but it worth the magnificent high Himalayan views. Upon setting sun we will be at Muktinath which  is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhist. The area hosts at Vishnu temple and a Monastery nearby. Muktinath itself demonstrates the religions harmony in Nepal. Overnight at Muktinath.

Day 14:  Muktinath to Jomsom(2,743m/9,050ft) walking duration 4 – 5 hrs

Descending from Ranipauwa village down the steep and barren hillside, we tumble down toward Kagbeni and then to Jomsom. The trail today is quite surreal as we trek along a plateau above Kali Gandaki, the world`s deepest gorge. The barren landscape of this area resembles Tibet. We overnight at Jomsom.

Day 15: Jomsom to Pokhara by flight

We fly to Pokhara in the morning, A time to relax in the extremely comfortable hotel, and after a hot shower we allow ourselves a cold beer or wine, a steak or chicken sizzler with our whole staff, and the satisfaction that comes from the achievement of a major challenge.

Day 16: Pokhara to Kathmandu

We fly  back to Kathmandu in the morning. You can go to Thamel for shopping in the afternoon or relax at hotel.

Day 17: final departure

A representative from Sherpa Land Adventures will drop to airport and it is time to say bye bye Nepal.

What are excluded

Gears

You are advised to consider the following equipment as essential while packing. Please use this list as a guideline. Adjustments to the list can be managed according to your requirements, interests, duration of trip, and season of trip.  We can find a variety of these items to hire locally or buy in Kathmandu. It is important to remember that our luggage will be carried by porters and there is a weight limitation of approximately 33 pounds (or 15 kg).   Head:
